How I work with Toronto teams
Canadian brands selling to the US need their store to feel domestic to American shoppers. I set up Shopify Markets for USD pricing and duties, work with your logistics partners on US fulfillment and build French storefronts for Quebec customers. Email and SMS sign-ups record CASL consent properly, and Klaviyo flows respect consent types, so retention marketing grows without regulatory risk.
What’s included
- Custom Online Store 2.0 themes in Liquid, with sections and blocks your team can edit
- Headless storefronts on Hydrogen and Oxygen when the brand genuinely needs them
- Shopify Plus — Checkout Extensibility, checkout UI extensions and Shopify Functions
- App integrations — Klaviyo, Recharge, Judge.me, Gorgias, plus ERP and 3PL systems
- Migrations from WooCommerce, Magento and other platforms with full 301 redirect mapping
- Speed and Core Web Vitals optimization
- Shopify Markets for multi-currency, multi-language and international selling
- GA4, server-side tracking, Meta CAPI and Google Enhanced Conversions live at launch
The Toronto context
- CASL is one of the world's strictest anti-spam laws: commercial emails and texts need express or implied consent, sender identification and a working unsubscribe, and implied consent expires after set periods.
- Selling into Quebec brings Law 25's consent and transparency rules as well as French-language requirements for commercial content, so a bilingual site is often a legal need rather than a nice-to-have.
Tracking and data collection follow PIPEDA, CASL & Quebec Law 25. PIPEDA requires meaningful consent and clear purposes for collecting personal data, while Law 25 adds stricter consent and privacy-by-default rules for Quebec residents. Email and SMS programs record consent type and expiry under CASL, and site tracking uses consent-aware tagging that works for both Canadian and US visitors.

FAQ
Shopify Developer in Toronto: FAQ
Can our Toronto Shopify store sell to US customers without surprise duties?
Yes. With Shopify Markets I can show USD prices and collect duties and import taxes at checkout, so US customers aren't surprised at delivery. Your customs broker confirms the current duty rules, which have shifted recently for Canada–US shipments.
Can you add a French version of our store?
Yes. I set up Shopify's translation and market tools for a French storefront, with product data and notification emails in French. Professional translation is recommended for Quebec, where French-language requirements apply to commercial content.
Can you invoice a Canadian company in CAD?
I can invoice in CAD or USD. GST/HST is generally not charged on my invoices for cross-border services, and your accountant confirms whether any self-assessment applies on your side.
Do you understand CASL?
Yes. I set up email and SMS programs that record how consent was obtained, when implied consent expires and how people unsubscribe. Your legal counsel confirms the final consent language, but the systems make compliance routine.
